about
Liz is a contemporary artist living and working in South West Ireland. She is interested in still life and urban landscape painting but is currently focusing mainly on portraiture.
Liz is now concentrating on the ancient medium of egg tempera. This is a highly detailed technique involving building up layers of semi-transparent colour mixed with egg yolk which creates works with a unique luminescence and opalescence.
She feels that the medium is perfectly suited to portraiture as it creates a feeling of intimacy, fragility and depth.
Liz's work has been exhibited in many exhibitions in Ireland and the UK, most notably:
National Gallery of Ireland
Crawford Art Gallery, Cork
RHA, Dublin
Royal Society of Portrait Painters, Mall Galleries, London
RUA Belfast
Shortlisted for the Nation Gallery Zurich Portrait Prize 2021 and 2022
Kenmare Art Exhibition 2022, First Prize (painting - Ann)
RHA Annual Exhibition exhibitor 2022
Royal Society of Portrait Painters Annual Exhibition 2023
